I have wanted a Dehydrator for a while now and have been putting off buying one because I thought I would have to know a lot more about Raw Food in order to use one. Well, I’m here to tell you, that it’s Super Easy!!!   I purchased an ‘Excalibur’ Dehydrator – a small one with four trays.  It’s compact, light and just the right size for me.

I wanted to make Orange NRG Chips with Protein, Vitamin C and Greens.  I knew it would take 10 hours, so I turned on the Dehydrator 118 Degrees at 10:00 pm so they would be ready for when I walk my dog at 7:00 am.

Get your ingredients Ready:

  • Raw Vegan Vitamin C Powder
  • Raw Vegan Plant-Based Green Powder
  • Raw Vegan Protein Powder
  • Raw, Organic, Virgin, Cold-Pressed Coconut Oil (Liquified)
  • Organic, Naval Oranges (Wash & Brush Skin)

Thinly Slice Oranges, leaving the Skins on.   Brush each Slice with Oil (I turned mine into liquid by leaving the oil in a bowl in the sunshine).  Sprinkle the Orange Slices with all three Powders.  Once the Slices are finished, place them onto the Dehydrator Trays below and put on for 10 hours at 118 degrees maximum to keep them in their Raw state:

I was so excited when I woke up….I couldn’t wait to see what these Orange Slices would looked like.  Here’s exactly what I saw and where I put them….

I tasted one of them and it was such an unexpected taste!  The Rind was bitter (bitter is better), yet the oil made it oddly sweet.  The centre of the Orange surprisingly squirted in my mouth with that Naval Orange sweetness and the Powders were, well, powdery.  Over all it was Delicious!

I grabbed a few of these and put them in a paper towel as I headed out the door to walk Jasmine.  Eating these Orange Energy Chips On The Go put a smile on my face and as each little bud of sweetness burst inside my mouth, it reminded me of warm sun-filled days, even though it was yet again, another Cold Day in Toronto.’

  1. I love this recipe. It’s very new to me. I’ve never thought that I can use my dehydrator with orange. I’ll give it a try. Thank you.
